While acknowledging Ben’s past contributions towards effective communication within the team among other qualities, Pope elaborated on how each player brings unique strengths critical for optimum performance during matches and how he would adapt as captain to accommodate these differences more effectively. He also commended Harry Brook's exceptional performance considered an asset by the team besides sympathizing with injured teammate Ben Foakes for losing out on selection due to injury during this lineup.

Looking ahead towards The Ashes series against Australia shortly, Pope termed it significant given their rivalry history with England being home ground favorites according to him. Nevertheless, effective leadership through positivity in attitude along with opportunities plus feedback were key principals he planned on imbuing within every member of this Squad under his leadership.

The upcoming games in the fixture include a one-off fixture against Ireland at Lord's on June 1st, followed by 5 Ashes matches starting on June 16th.
